Jeslyn Asir - Accompanist
Jeslyn Asir is an Indian pianist currently based in Cardiff. He initially graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology before pursuing a career in music, working with several choirs, singers, and theatre groups across south India. He also worked as the Choir Director at KIS, an American school in India.
He studied with Michael Pollock at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he won the Bryan Davies Accompaniment Prize and spent a year as a junior fellow répetiteur at the David Seligman Opera School. While at RWCMD, he worked on the productions of La Cenerentola, (Rossini) Die Zauberflöte, (Mozart) Albert Herring, (Britten) The Gondoliers, (Gilbert & Sullivan) Sweeny Todd, (Stephen Sondheim) and several opera scenes projects.
Other performances include the Friends of WNO concerts with Donald Maxwell, opera projects with Opera in Situ and Opera’r Ddraig, and a performance at Buckingham Palace.
After RWCMD, Jeslyn worked as the Choir Director at the British School in Kuwait, while he also worked with the Kuwait Chamber Chorale. In particular, he accompanied the choir at a performance at the Dubai Opera House and conducted them at a concert in Sharjah.
Since returning to the UK earlier in 2023, he has worked on RWCMD’s production of Die Fledermaus (Johann Strauss) and at Opera North as an assistant répetiteur on their production of La traviata (Verdi).
